Position Summary:
The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston seeks a promising and dynamic scholar for a **two-year** termed position of Curatorial Assistant, Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy.
Reporting to the Matsutaro Shoriki Chair, this position will work closely with colleagues across the Museum, especially Conservation, Photo Services, and Collections Care, to catalogue and expand publicly available information on the largest and most significant gift of Chinese paintings and calligraphy in the Museum’s history—the Wan-go H.C. Weng Collection. The individual will work on the Weng Family collection and assist with the viewing, documentation, photography, transcription of inscriptions and seals, and timely and accurate entry of data on the collection in the Museum’s database. The work will entail regular consultation and collaboration with colleagues inside and outside the institution. An interest and commitment to exploring the changing nature of art museums and their relationship to the public are essential.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
+ Advanced degree in art history or Chinese culture. Demonstrated scholarly ability in the field of Chinese paintings and calligraphy through publications, conference papers, or other activities.
+ Fluency with spoken and written Chinese; facility with reading classical Chinese for scholarly research.
+ One year of curatorial experience or demonstrated organizational and administrative skills.

Salary and Schedule:
Salary: $54,000 - $56,500
Full-Time, 35 hours per week
Two-year term
