Job Description:
The Regulatory Services division of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst. The Actuarial Analyst analyzes extensive industry data related to life insurance mortality experience. This role involves data processing, analysis, and communication, utilizing databases and data visualization tools. Additional duties include staff support, actuarial modeling, and continuous technical skill development to meet evolving needs. **This full-time hybrid position is based in Kansas City, MO in a positive and flexible environment.** **Residency within 100 miles of the Kansas City, Missouri office is required.**
Responsibilities Include
+ Experience Data Collection
Assists in the collection and processing of confidential annual life insurance mortality experience data filings from companies representing a high percentage of the industry. Learns key sections of the _Valuation Manual_ relating to data collection (i.e. VM-50 and VM-51). Assists in developing rules-based approaches to validate the form and format of data submissions, and reviews individual company results. Assists in developing approaches to review aggregated data fields for reasonableness, and reviews individual company results. Maintains confidentiality of data and assists with data governance.
+ NAIC Staff Support
Prepares meeting minutes, monthly reports, and other work products for review by primary staff support. Participates in the preparation of presentations, reports, and email communications. Assists in developing and maintaining confidential company SharePoint sites. Completes ad-hoc projects in a timely manner.
+ Actuarial Modeling
Participate in trainings to gain expertise in AXIS modeling software. Support development of model office and model governance procedures. Prepare documentation for the model offices maintained by the NAIC.

No direct reports.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required
+ Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar degree from an accredited college or university and prior actuarial experience gained through one or more actuarial internships or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Passed at least one actuarial exam through the Society of Actuaries.
+ Ability to be a self-starter.
+ Effective at working either independently or in collaboration with others, depending on project needs.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Attention to detail.
Systems & Technology Requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office products; Tableau; SQL, and statistical software.
Preferred Experience
+ Basic knowledge of life insurance, actuarial concepts, and regulatory requirements for life insurance.
+ Proficiency with Tableau, SQL, and statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
+ Experience with actuarial modeling software.
Travel
This position may require regular, out-of-state, overnight travel in support of member meetings and events throughout the year. Must be able and willing to travel to locations throughout the United States and with such frequency as necessary to meet the needs of this position and the Association.
Compensation
$91,436 – $95,000, commensurate with education and experience.
