Job Description
We are looking for experienced candidates capable of managing a small team of developers while also contributing to the programming of the software. We want someone who desires to contribute to the success of others as well as the projects assigned to their team.
The Position-- You will be required to:
+ Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead a team of 4 to 6 developers to their optimum performance levels and career development.
+ Effectively delegate tasks to your team to match and stretch their skills, while removing obstacles to their success and reliably delivering working software.
+ Participate in architecture discussions, design decisions and provide input in to all aspects of the system.
+ Work with product owners and domain experts to simplify and automate business processes and translate those processes into technical specifications.
+ Motivate your team to meet mutually agreed upon but aggressive deadlines.
+ Write clean code with good nomenclature, sensible tests and comments when necessary.
+ Write unit tests, integration tests, and acceptance tests.
+ Implement new features and fix bugs in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET, C#, SQL and other technologies for both existing and greenfield applications.
+ Evolve databases and manage schema migrations in coordination with new features.
The Team
+ We work hard, we have a good time, and we go home. We’re all geeks about something, whether it’s games, comic books, sci-fi, music, wine, beer or sports.
+ We have laptops, dual monitors, solid state drives, and plenty of RAM.
+ We use GitHub, TeamCity, Azure DevOps, GitHub CoPilot, Octopus Deploy, Visual Studio and Resharper. We have MSDN subscriptions. We use a lot of open source.
+ We have a groomed product backlog, involved and responsive product owners, and an open mind about methodologies.
+ No one commits directly to master. Everyone’s code is reviewed by someone on the team.
Qualifications
The Technical: You need to have or know:
+ Equivalent experience of 10 years in general programming and web application development.
+ Some experience in a team lead or management role where you were responsible for the development of people.
+ An ability to solve complex problems, communicate clearly, and share a sense of urgency.
+ The capacity to thrive in a small, flexible and dynamic environment, contributing to a high performance, low-stress corporate culture.
+ The ins and outs of C#, LINQ, ASP.NET MVC, Razor, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL and HTTP.
+ Knowledge of design patterns
+ git (or other source code management tools) knowledge
It would be nice for you to know:
+ Agile (Scrum, XP, Shape Up) processes
+ Test-Driven Development
+ NServiceBus
+ RavenDB
The Candidate-- We are looking for:
+ A good fit with the team dynamic. We need someone the team can trust, rely on, hang out with, bounce ideas off of, and generally interact with in a positive way both personally and professionally.
+ A natural leader and an effective manager. Your team trusts and respects you, and they deliver working software on time and on budget.
+ An incredibly hard worker. You reliably see tasks through to the end, without supervision, and ask for more. You know when to ask for help and you give bad news early.
+ Super talented, in a general way. On any given day, you may be adding a new feature, tracking down a bug, tweaking a build script, configuring IIS or mining some data.
+ Specifically talented in a programming way. You can instantly visualize solutions to problems big or small. If you’re this sort of person, you’ll know what I mean. If not then this position may not be for you.
+ An effective communicator. You effectively explain concepts, written and verbally, to other developers and non-technical peers. A whiteboard is the natural extension of your brain.
