Saint Luke’s Advanced Care Pharmacy has a career opportunity for an energetic specialty pharmacist striving to make an impact on patient care. This is a full-time, remote and onsite hybrid position located in the Kansas City, Missouri area. The pharmacy provides a variety of services that includes a range of specialty medications to address chronic and rare diseases. The specialty pharmacist provides oversight and processing of specialty pharmacy prescriptions in both clinic and outpatient pharmacy environments. This position requires leadership skills that are accentuated through communication, collaboration and willingness to work as a team, in order to improve patient care and problem solve.
**Job Details:** Specialty Pharmacist - Full Time Day - Hybrid Remote. This hybrid position is a specialty pharmacist position that will work dispensing and providing clinical oversight to our specialty patients. (Hybrid – 3.5 Days per week work from home and 1.5 days per week on site. Hours 8-5 Monday through Friday. On call every 5th weekend and 1-2 holidays per year.)
Responsibilities
Participates in pharmacy operations and medication dispensing
Maintains proficiency in and actively engages in operational programs and specialty pharmacy dispensing as appropriate for job assignment
Facilitates specialty medication procurement, ordering, and dispensing procedures including but not limited to chemotherapy, biologics, and hepatitis treatments, etc. as appropriate for assignment
Oversees pharmacy operations and technician practice/activities
Ensures compliance with federal and state laws as well as accreditation requirements
Provides pharmaceutical services throughout health system
Maintains proficiency in pharmacy computer systems and medication ordering systems
Provides accurate, safe, timely, and appropriate evidence-based medication therapy based on patient age and needs
Completes patient assessments, monitoring, and reviews patient profile/chart to identify, prevent, or mitigate drug-related problems, improper drug or dose selection, sub therapeutic dosage, over dosage, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, failure to receive drugs, untreated indications, medication use without an indication, and treatment failures
Participates in quality improvement activities
Communicates effectively and appropriately with healthcare providers and caregivers (physicians, nurses, etc.) and assures continuity of pharmaceutical care among staff
Preferred qualifications/experience:
Completion of Pharmacy Residency OR Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) is preferred.
Clinical pharmacy experience (2-4 years) in a specialty pharmacy setting preferred
Significant knowledge and expertise in advanced pharmacy practice, specialty medication therapy management, and specialty evidence-based medicine in area appropriate for clinical assignments.
