Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. This role is integral to ensuring the financial integrity and operational excellence of our organization while advancing our mission to inspire meaningful philanthropy across rural communities. As a key member of the leadership team, you will oversee accounting operations, compliance, risk management, and vendor relations, collaborating across departments to optimize processes and drive impactful results.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the foundation's accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, and general bookkeeping.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through accurate external reporting and coordination of audits and tax filings.
• Develop and enforce internal controls and policies to mitigate risks and ensure data and asset protection.
• Lead the budgeting process, working closely with senior leadership to create and administer the organization's financial plan.
• Analyze financial trends and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and technological improvements.
• Manage key vendor relationships, including IT, HR, and insurance providers, negotiating contracts as needed.
• Supervise the Accounting and Operations team, providing leadership and guidance to ensure high performance and accountability.
• Collaborate with inter-departmental teams to enhance financial and administrative processes.
• Review and approve material ledger transactions and reconciliations, ensuring proper separation of duties and efficiency in monthly closings.
• Support technical oversight related to charitable regulations and community foundation-specific activities. Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, financial management, or related roles.
• Proficiency in accounting systems, such as 3M, Crystal Reports, and ADP Financial Services.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and auditing processes.
• Expertise in budget development and financial planning.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and their integration into financial workflows.
• Track record of managing vendor contracts and negotiations.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and present actionable insights.
