Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role involves managing a variety of accounting functions, including financial reporting, tax compliance, and financial analysis, to support our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and a proactive approach to improving processes.

Responsibilities:

• Compare actual expenses against budgeted amounts to ensure financial alignment.

• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements for management review.

• Support the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax return workpapers and quarterly estimates.

• Research and resolve tax notices and inquiries in a timely manner.

• Maintain accurate records of all tax filings and compliance activities.

• Assist in maintaining fixed asset schedules and coordinating acquisitions or dissolutions with registered agents.

• Conduct financial analysis, including cash flow projections, and assist with special projects related to acquisitions, dispositions, and refinances.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.

• At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience.

• Experience with month-end close procedures and financial reporting.

• Strong analytical skills, including cash flow analysis.

• Familiarity with tax compliance and preparation of tax-related documentation.

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify process improvement opportunities.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.
