Description
We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance/CFO to join our team on a Contract basis in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In this role, you will provide strategic financial leadership and oversee all financial operations, ensuring compliance with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. This position involves managing budgets, supervising financial teams, and supporting the organization’s mission through sound financial planning and analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage the organization’s annual budget in collaboration with leadership, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
• Oversee all accounting functions, including financial planning, analysis, and reporting, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Lead the preparation and execution of annual audits and provide financial data to the Board of Directors and regulatory bodies.
• Create and implement long-term and short-term financial strategies to enhance organizational stability and growth.
• Build and mentor a high-performing Finance Team to support the organization’s financial and operational objectives.
• Establish and maintain systems to provide timely and accurate financial information to key stakeholders for effective decision-making.
• Supervise the operations of the Finance Team, Contract Management staff, and Representative Payee program.
• Ensure all financial systems and processes comply with relevant regulations and internal policies.
• Prepare detailed financial reports, applications, and audits as required by leadership and external stakeholders.
• Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive financial data and organizational information.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, and team supervision; experience in non-profit accounting is a plus.
• Proven ability to manage budgets of at least $10 million and oversee financial operations.
• Strong proficiency in financial software, particularly Blackbaud and Financial Edge, as well as advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with grant accounting and compliance with government regulations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel locally as needed to fulfill work-related obligations.
• Must be bondable and demonstrate a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion.
