Jenny Bour with Robert Half is working with a growing manufacturing company that is seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Payroll Specialist to oversee and manage payroll operations for the organization. This Sr. Payroll Specialist will process both exempt and non-exempt payroll for approximately 250 employees, the majority of which are located in NYS. In this Sr. Payroll Specialist role, you will ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with applicable laws while addressing employee inquiries and maintaining precise records. This position is based in Amherst, New York, and offers an opportunity to demonstrate expertise in payroll systems and regulations and to grow with the organization!
Responsibilities:
+ Process weekly and biweekly payroll, ensuring all time is accurately reported and compliant with company policies.
+ Handle garnishments, child support payments, deductions, and reimbursements, ensuring correct integration into payroll systems.
+ Respond promptly to payroll-related inquiries, providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues effectively.
+ Support year-end processes, including fringe benefit calculations and W-2 preparation.
+ Generate payroll reports for management and provide insights as needed.
+ Maintain meticulous and organized payroll records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
+ Monitor and stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure adherence to best practices.
+ Assist with monthly close activities, including preparing payroll journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and bank account reconciliations.
+ Contribute to special projects and provide support as required.
Requirements
+ 7+ years of experience working in payroll and with HR/payroll systems, with preference given to those familiar with ADP Workforce Now.
+ Bachelor’s degree or relevant payroll experience.
+ Certified Payroll designation is a plus.
+ Strong understanding of payroll laws, codes, regulations, and industry standards.
+ Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
+ Proven capability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
+ Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
