    Description

    Jenny Bour with Robert Half is working with a construction company that is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team! This Payroll Specialist position requires expertise in certified payroll processes and a strong understanding of labor compliance regulations. The ideal Payroll Specialist candidate will excel in maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring compliance with federal and state wage laws. This is a permanent opportunity located in Tonawanda, NY.

    Responsibilities:

    + Process weekly payroll for a diverse workforce, including salaried, hourly, and laborer roles.

    + Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports in compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act and prevailing wage laws.

    + Maintain detailed records of employee timesheets, wages, benefits, and deductions.

    + Review and reconcile timekeeping data to ensure payroll accuracy.

    + Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations and labor laws.

    + Collaborate with HR and project managers to gather relevant labor classification and job code information.

    + Provide payroll documentation and reports during internal and external audits.

    + Stay informed about updates in certified payroll regulations and wage determinations.

    + Set up and manage prevailing wage classifications within payroll systems.

    + Generate payroll-related reports for management and compliance purposes.

    Requirements

    + 3+ years of payroll experience with at least 1 year of experience with certified payroll.

    + Solid knowledge of prevailing wage laws and certified payroll reporting.

    + Proficiency in payroll software and systems, experience in Dayforce is a plus!

    + Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

    + Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.

    + Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.

    + Experience in construction, government contracting, or public works is a plus.
