Receptionist in a physician clinic is responsible for coordinates the reception area of the physician office under the direction of a physician office manager and physician.

*Duties*

• Provides quality customer service through greeting patients, answering phone and making appointments

• Prepares and maintains the patient information, charges, payments, insurance information and medical records

• Has current understanding of insurance payment information and verifies insurance benefits. Makes sure EOB denials and all other account receivable documentation that is received is sent with the daily batch to the billing services

• Coordinates referrals for service to the hospital, and involves appropriate hospital personnel as needed to expedite any admission processes

• Prepare bank deposits, superbills, log and batch sheets for billing company.

• Musthave a thorough understanding of Protected Health Information (PHI) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

• Mustbe familiar with Medical Terminology and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) format.

• Musthave working knowledge of insurance billing.

• Must have excellent customer service skills.
