Job Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Supervise Payroll Administrators, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
+ Act as the first point of escalation for payroll-related issues.
+ Mentor and train Payroll Administrators on best practices, compliance, and system functionality.
+ Oversee payroll processing, including audits of time entries, deductions, benefits, and garnishments for compliance and accuracy.
+ Ensure timely resolution of discrepancies and maintain high standards of payroll accuracy.
+ Support the development and documentation of standard operating procedures for payroll processes.
+ Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
+ Monitor and enforce prevailing wage compliance.
+ Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary data and explanations.
+ Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements in payroll operations.
+ Collaborate with the Payroll Manager to implement new tools and methodologies that enhance team performance and accuracy.
Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ A high school diploma or GED
+ 2+ Years experience in a supervisory role within a payroll/finance department
+ 5+ Years’ experience processing multi-state payroll, including tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
+ 5+ Years Experience working in payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG) and advanced Excel capabilities (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
+ In-depth knowledge of prevailing wage and certified payroll.
+ Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor team members effectively.
+ Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy, especially with high volume transactions
Preferred Qualifications:
+ An associate and/or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar studies
+ 5+ Years’ experience leading teams within a payroll/finance department
+ Experience in payroll job costing within a construction environment
+ Experience preparing general ledger account reconciliations, journal entries, and participating in closing procedures
+ Experience reconciling year-end payroll reporting (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
Essential Job Functions:
+ Be able to lift and carry personal computers, material, etc.
+ Be able to sit/stand at a desk for prolonged amounts of time.
