Job Title: Formulations Chemist – Product Development

Schedule: Onsite | Mon–Fri | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Type: Direct Hire

We are seeking a Formulations Chemist with a strong background in chemistry, chemical formulation, and product development. This hands-on role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of formulated products such as coatings, paints, inks, enamels, adhesives, emulsions, or cosmetic formulations. Ideal candidates will have a passion for innovative chemistry and a solid understanding of formulation science, material compatibility, raw material selection, and application testing.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Formulate and reformulate products using organic and polymer chemistry principles

+ Develop stable and scalable chemical formulations for commercial applications

+ Design and execute laboratory experiments for rheology, viscosity, adhesion, stability, shelf life, and performance testing

+ Evaluate raw materials, surfactants, binders, resins, and additives

+ Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Marketing on new product launches

+ Support scale-up processes, pilot batches, and manufacturing transfer

+ Document and analyze experimental data; troubleshoot formulation issues

+ Conduct competitive benchmarking and stay current with industry trends and regulatory standards

+ Train and mentor junior chemists and lab technicians

+ Maintain compliance with all laboratory safety procedures and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

Qualifications:

+ B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline

+ 5+ years of hands-on formulation experience in one or more of the following:

+ Coatings (water- or solvent-based)

+ Paints, Inks, or Enamels

+ Cosmetic or Personal Care Products

+ Adhesives, Sealants, or Polymers

+ Strong understanding of formulation design, raw material interaction, and chemical compatibility

+ Proficient in analytical techniques and lab instrumentation (e.g., viscometer, pH meter, FTIR, HPLC, DSC, etc.)

+ Excellent problem-solving and data interpretation skills

+ Strong project management and team collaboration capabilities
