Job Title: Construction Estimator

Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: $120000 - $150000 annually

Contractor Work Model: Onsite

Role Description

System One is seeking a Senior Estimator to provide and/or coordinate full estimating services on a variety of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid general knowledge of ground-up construction across both building and civil disciplines, with a preferred background in heavy power or industrial sectors.

Role Accountabilities:

• Review and incorporate historical data from cost reports, productivity analyses, and similar documentation into unit and man-hour cost estimates.

• Analyze proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required estimate components.

• Develop complete conceptual or detailed estimates by divisional AIA code and provide final estimating input for complex projects.

• Provide technical support to staff preparing discipline-specific estimates.

• Maintain all documentation and data to support estimate figures.

• Support operations during the bidding process, including preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids.

• Track estimated cost vs. actual cost for awarded contracts; may include pricing extras, change orders, credits, material procurement, etc.

• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the organization.

Qualifications:

• Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts.

• Leadership and coordination skills with the ability to supervise team efforts as needed.

• Strong communication skills, with comfort presenting complex details across all levels of the organization and to clients.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong analytical mindset—able to make sound judgments even with limited information.

• Self-motivated and proactive with a high degree of initiative.

• Proven ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Willingness to be hands-on and take ownership of tasks, with sound judgment on when to escalate issues.

• Strong customer focus and professional resilience.

• High ethical standards and a creative, solutions-oriented mindset.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical training/experience.

• 5–10 years of experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering—at least 4 years must be in estimating within similar facility construction environments.
