Job Description
As an Assembly Technician, you will play a crucial role in constructing the metal frames of large switchboards in a production bay. You will start at a workbench, using a tape measure and blueprint to carefully measure and mark metal materials before they are cut to size. This role requires attention to detail and precision in handling materials such as sheet metal, aluminum, and copper to build frames according to customer specifications. Once the assembly process is complete, a wiring technician will take over to wire the switchboard.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in building metal frames of large switchboards in a production bay.
+ Measure and mark metal materials using a tape measure and blueprint.
+ Gather raw materials such as sheet metal, aluminum, and copper.
+ Build custom switchboards using hand tools and blueprints.
+ Ensure the quality of the assembled switchboards.
Essential Skills
+ High attention to detail.
+ Previous assembly experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
+ Ability to read a tape measure and use a power drill.
+ Mechanical aptitude.
+ Experience in small parts assembly and wiring while reading blueprints.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to lift 50 lbs as needed.
+ Willingness to work at heights of up to 90 inches off the ground using a small step ladder.
+ Comfortable with being in awkward positions, including sitting, squatting, and kneeling.
Shift & Pay
+ 1st shift: 7:30am-4pm w/ little to no OT at this time
+ **$18-19**

Work Environment
Work on the first shift from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with little to no overtime. The shop is clean, brightly lit, and quiet, allowing employees to focus on their tasks. Employees can wear jeans and sweatshirts and must wear closed-toed shoes. The work environment is individual-focused, requiring self-motivation, but employees are not constantly monitored after training. The new building is still under construction, so it is not temperature-controlled yet.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based 20 minutes outside of Lafayette in Brookston, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
