Advisor, ACE Program - Academic Support Center

The ACE Advisor will provide individualized academic and personal support to a cohort of students enrolled in the ACE (Advancing Completion through Engagement) program at the University at Albany. The Advisor plays an essential role in guiding students through their academic journey, helping them navigate challenges, and connecting them with resources to ensure timely graduation.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Offer personalized guidance on course selection, academic planning, and progression to ensure students meet their educational goals.
+ Assist students in overcoming personal, financial, and academic obstacles by connecting them with appropriate campus and community resources.
+ Develop and facilitate workshops on topics such as study skills, time management, career exploration, and financial literacy.
+ Track student performance, maintain detailed records, and implement interventions as needed to promote student success.
+ Work closely with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to coordinate support services and advocate for student needs.
+ Participate in the recruitment of new students and assist in orientation sessions to acclimate them to the program.
+ Stay informed about best practices in academic advising and student support through ongoing professional development.

Job Requirements:
+ Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
+ Knowledge of academic support and retention strategies.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, social work, psychology, or a related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising, college counseling, or student services in a higher education setting.
+ Experience using advising and student information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, EAB Navigate, Starfish).
+ Demonstrated commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive student population.
+ Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
+ Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
+ Experience advising or mentoring first-generation, low-income, and/or underrepresented college students.
+ Experience with instructional technologies and online communication platforms (e.g., Brightspace, Slate).

+ Some evening and weekend work required

+ You must be employed at the University at Albany campus.
+ You must be in a State-funded UUP professional position (MC employees are not eligible).
+ You must have a permanent, term, or probationary appointment. Only temporary employees employed by UAlbany for three or more consecutive years can be considered eligible.

Professional Rank and Salary Grade: SL-3, Academic Advisory, $57,000-$59,000
