Job Title: Design EngineerJob Description
The Design Engineer will serve as an engineering representative within an Integrated Project Team, responsible for handling engineering details related to new customer introductions, new product development, and sustaining activities. This role involves managing installations and top-level assembly creation in NX, supporting workflows in Teamcenter, publishing parts lists, and peer reviewing models to ensure customer requirements are met. The engineer will be the design focal point for their program, ensuring new designs meet cost and performance targets, and troubleshooting issues related to field data, manufacturing pickups, and engineering errors.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the mechanical design for integration projects.
+ Create installation drawings in NX.
+ Develop top-level assembly models in NX.
+ Design new detailed components and subassemblies.
+ Create new design options for customer requirements and manage them through purchasing, testing, and operations.
+ Conduct and support internal design reviews.
+ Serve as the technical focal point in customer meetings.
+ Publish parts lists.
+ Conduct peer reviews of models and drawings.
+ Create design solutions to support change requests.
+ Update the weight matrix for assigned programs.
+ Understand new customer requirements and how to meet them.
+ Coordinate with the integrated product team as the engineering representative, collaborating with various disciplines including electrical, stress, and flammability engineering, purchasing, operations, and program management.
+ Support manufacturing operations and testing as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5–7 years of related experience or training in integration/interiors.
+ Experience with commercial aircraft monuments or other interior product installations.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to research and investigate design solutions independently.
+ Proficient in 3D solid modeling and drafting; NX preferred, Catia/SolidWorks acceptable.
+ Ability to interpret 2D drawings, understand GD&T, and perform tolerance stack-ups.
+ Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
+ Experience with interior installation/reconfigurations integration for Boeing or Airbus programs.
+ Ability to interact with high levels of internal and external management.
+ Experience with kaizen workshops or lean activities.
+ Experience in updating or authoring standard work and processes.
+ Strong engineering skills including mechanisms, kinematics, kinetics, free body diagrams, and stress analysis.
Work Environment
This position is on-site, requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams and interaction with various stakeholders. The role involves using advanced technologies such as NX and Siemens Teamcenter, and may involve participation in lean activities like kaizen workshops.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
