Overview
The Chick-fil-A Tax Department is responsible for tax compliance, technology, special
projects, research, and audit defense functions for independently owned franchised
restaurants and corporate activities. We exist to provide tax planning, regulatory reporting and
consulting to stakeholders, governments, external auditors, and business leaders. As we
grow in complexity and global footprint, we seek to influence business decisions, reduce tax
liability, and mitigate risk.
Primary responsibilities of this role are serving the Sales Tax and Payroll Tax Teams by
preparing the state and local sales tax and payroll tax registration filings for both Chick-fil-A,
Inc. & Affiliates and Chick-fil-A franchisees (both sole proprietors and incorporated
Operators). This will include researching and addressing any technical matters related to
registrations. This role is responsible for gathering all necessary tax data for selected
incorporated Operators, verifying the accuracy of the data, and completing the incorporated
Operators’ registrations. This role also facilitates the gathering of information needed to
complete the Federal Employer Identification Number and is responsible for completing all
required FEIN applications for Chick-fil-A Inc. & Affiliates.
Responsibilities
+ • Process and file state and local sales tax and payroll tax registrations for sole proprietors,
incorporated franchisees, Chick-fil-A, Inc. and Subsidiaries, CFA Supply LLC, and
international entities where appropriate.
• Partner cross-functionally to develop and evaluate processes related to tax registrations
and Operator incorporations to ensure timely processing and compliance with all
applicable laws & regulations.
• Responsible for ensuring sales and payroll tax registrations are prepared and filed timely
and accurately.
• Knowledge of employment tax regulations, reporting and transfers of interest.
• Knowledge of the successor status provisions related to employment taxes and wage-
base carryovers.
+ • Perform complex tax research and analysis related to employment tax issues and
business license issues impacting Chick-fil-A, Inc. & Affiliates and third-party franchisees.
Communicates impact of research to internal business partners and third-party
franchisees.
• Primary point of contact for outside technical expertise/consultants.
• Act as a liaison with multiple other departments throughout the business.
• Managing and speaking into the timing of Operator changes and transitions on behalf of
the Tax Department.
• Serves in a support role for researching, filing and maintaining state and local business
licenses for Chick-fil-A, Inc. & Affiliates, including CFA Supply LLC and international
entities and corporate-owned locations.
• Research and answer Federal, state, and local correspondence regarding payroll, sales,
and business license taxes, payments, and general account information.
• Respond to state and local tax notices.
• Assists and leads special projects as needed.
• May reconcile general ledger tax liability accounts and investigate account differences
and issues.
