    Description

    Methods Machine Tools was established in 1958 with three employees and a handful of refurbished machines. Since then, the company has become one of the largest privately owned machine tool importers in North America.

     

    Methods designs and implements custom machining setups, including machine tool selection, automation integration, and turnkey automation cells. The corporate campus in Sudbury, Mass., comprises a showroom/technical center, which contains automation, applications, and a full range of cutting-edge machines. Methods has more than 300 employees, 7 technology centers, 1 high precision machining center, and has installed more than 45,000 machines throughout North America.

     

    Job Summary: The Precision Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling, testing, and inspecting mechanical components and products according to engineering specifications and quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions. The Mechanical Assembler works closely with production and quality assurance teams to ensure the highest standards of manufacturing efficiency and product quality.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Assemble mechanical components and systems according to blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.

    + Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete assembly tasks.

    + Inspect and test assembled components to ensure functionality and compliance with quality standards.

    + Identify and report defects, deviations, or issues in the assembly process.

    + Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient production.

    + Work collaboratively with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues.

    + Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company and industry regulations.

    + Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly processes and efficiency.

    + Document assembly procedures and maintain accurate production records.

    Required Qualifications & Skills:

    + High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanical assembly or related field is a plus.

    + 2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or a related field.

    + Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

    + Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments.

    + Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.

    + Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot assembly issues.

    + Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    + none

    Travel Requirements:

    + Approximately 25% of time

    Physical Requirements:

    + Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    + Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

    + Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs as needed.

    + Frequent standing, bending, and working with hands for extended periods.

    + Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and conditions.

    + Compliance with PPE and safety requirements.
