You can be instrumental in this training by becoming a Director of Clinical Nursing Research and Evidenced-Based Practice with Banner in Phoenix, AZ. This position provides leadership in strategic planning, project oversight, evidence review and protocol development, mentorship, education and training, and evidence review and protocol development for research projects.
A PhD and 5-7 years' experience in clinical research as well as 2 years' clinical experience required.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for leading, promoting, coordinating, developing, and managing nursing research and evidence-based practice (EBP) programs across Banner Health. This role supports the achievement and maintenance of quality award programs such as Magnet Recognition and Pathway to Excellence designation, mentorship, internal and external partnerships, and nursing professional excellence. This role will shape a work environment that supports nursing excellence, ensures nursing practice is evidence-based and nursing knowledge is generated through research.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Research Development and Strategy Execution. This position leads the development and implementation of nursing research strategies to advance nursing knowledge by providing expert guidance in study identification, protocol development, and regulatory compliance. Manages research studies both conceptually and practically within a data-driven organization to ensure the integrity and impact of research outcomes.
2. Evidence-Based Practice. Leads and promotes the integration of evidence-based practice into clinical and operational processes. Provides guidance and support to nursing staff in the application of research findings to improve patient care. Demonstrate command of EBP skills, including implementation and bridging the gap between research and practice. Fosters a culture of inquiry by engaging nurses in research and EBP projects.
3. Mentorship and Professional Development. Acts as a leader, mentor, and coach, providing guidance for the development of resources and infrastructure for nursing research and EBP programs. Supports the growth and development of nursing staff and peers through mentorship and professional development initiatives.
4. Internal and External Partnerships. Establishes and maintains professional networks and collaborative alliances to enhance the image of nursing practice, research, and scholarship at regional and national levels. Collaborates with shared governance councils, healthcare disciplines, and departments to support improvement work and inquiry-based activities. 5. Management and Evaluation. Shapes and implement a vision of nursing research and EBP for Banner Health. Evaluates program outcomes and role models professional nursing practice behaviors. Ensures program effectiveness through improved patient outcomes, increased efficiency, and enhanced visibility of research and EBP projects. Identifies funding opportunities and lead grant writing efforts to support nursing research projects. Manages research budgets and resources effectively. Mentors nurses in the development of research grant proposals, acquisition of grant funds, and administration of grant funds that support research and evidence-based practice initiatives.
6. Leadership and Communication. Leads system-level EBP projects and research studies, serving as the Principal Investigator (PI) when necessary. Communicates effectively with diverse constituencies, developing rapport with people at all levels of the organization. Provides transparent communication and foster teamwork and collaboration. Supports the dissemination of nursing research and evidence-based practice projects locally, regionally, and nationally (e.g., manuscript publications, conference presentations). Represents the organization in professional forums and contribute to the broader nursing research community.
7. Compliance and Ethics. Ensures grants, research and EBP processes adhere to ethical standards, regulatory requirements and scientific practices. Maintains knowledge of research-related ethics and support compliance with local, state, and federal policies. Ensures compliance with required federal, state, funding source, and other applicable governing entities regarding regulations, laws, and statutes governing the scope of research activity. Initiates proper contractual relationships. Works with research staff, patient financial services, and financial analysts to ensure that research related charges are billed appropriately.
8. Innovation and Continuous Improvement. Demonstrates a passion for teaching, learning, and excellence, elevating the abilities and competencies of the team. Leads initiatives to develop workflows and processes that meet program needs and drive continuous improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree PhD required or equivalent level of education and experience.
RN licensure required.
Five to seven years of clinical research experience, including 2 years of direct clinical experience.
Candidate must possess medical or bioscientific, business, grant/promotional writing and presentation skills. Strong and demonstrable planning, management, organization, communication, collaborative and analytical skills. Requires extensive amount of initiative, analytical and evaluation efforts and constructive thinking to develop alternatives for resolution to frequently changing situations and difficult problems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a Magnet-recognized organization is preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
