    The 8thJudicial District, Mahaska County Juvenile Court Services Office has an immediate opening for a Juvenile Court Specialist 1 in Oskaloosa, Iowa and will cover multiple counties. Travel is required to other work locations as needed

     

    The starting salary for new State employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The starting pay for this position is $17.72 hourly, based on an 80-hour pay period. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience and/or education, with excellent State of Iowa benefits.

     

    Hours:Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

    Job duties include but are not limited to:

    + Extensive data entry and word processing duties.

    + Responds to visitors and answers the telephone;

    + Follows appropriate processes for use of the Electronic Data Management System (EDMS);

    + Records and updates information in ICIS;

    + Prepares or drafts correspondence or other related documents;

    + Assists JCOs in gathering information;

    This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Judicial Branch. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.

     

    Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

     

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency).

    AND

    Two (2) years of successful completion of post high school education in social work, sociology, psychology, criminology, education or related program.

    AND

    Additional years of experience may be substituted for the required post high school education.

     

    Additional years of education may be substituted for the required years of experience. Thirty (30) semester hours is equivalent to one year of experience.

     

    Possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

     

    Candidates must pass a preemployment criminal background check.
