Job Skills / Requirements
Schedule: This is a seasonal position scheduled Monday through Thursday , beginning each day at 8:00 a.m. We are currently hiring for both part-time and full-time shifts (up to 8 hours per day), depending on your availability and our project needs.
No prior work experience required!
Every job within a school district plays an important role—and this includes our seasonal furniture movers. As part of our summer operations team, you will help prepare school facilities for the upcoming year by supporting the safe and efficient movement of furniture, equipment, and materials across various school sites.
This temporary position is perfect for individuals who are dependable, physically capable, and eager to contribute to the smooth functioning of Suffolk Public Schools during the summer transition period.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Load, unload, and transport furniture and classroom equipment within the school building.
+ Set up and arrange classrooms or event spaces according to provided layout plans.
+ Handle materials carefully, following all safety procedures and lifting protocols.
+ Assist with organizing storage spaces and maintaining clean, hazard-free work areas.
+ Work collaboratively with team members and take direction from supervisors.
+ Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Ability to read, follow instructions, and work as part of a team.
+ Punctual, dependable, and professional in demeanor.
+ Must be able to work with a diverse group of people.
+ Willingness to learn and take initiative.
+ Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprint clearance prior to employment.
+ Previous moving or general labor experience is a plus but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Ability to lift, push, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
+ Frequent bending, stooping, standing, and walking for extended periods (up to 8 hours/day).
+ Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor environments.
