    SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and customer focused individual to join its International Services Office (ISO). The ISO team is responsible for providing the information and services needed to facilitate our foreign national employees, guests and researchers coming to work at the lab, and ensuring that appropriate laws and policies are observed.

     

    Reporting to the Talent Acquisition & ISO Manager, and under minimum supervision, this position will be administering SLAC¿s non-immigrant and permanent residency, as well as partnering with Stanford Bechtel¿s International center for J-1 visa sponsorship programs.

    Your specific responsibilities include:

    + Support, coordinate, and review of Permanent Residency, H-1B sponsorship, and the J-1 program, including insurance regulations. Be responsible for the coordination and production of visa sponsoring documents. Coordinate workflow, anticipate problems, and plan solutions accordingly.

    + Communicate effectively with department managers, staff, visitors, immigration attorneys, and Stanford¿s Bechtel International Center staff. Communicate with government agencies and foreign embassies to facilitate the issuance of visas.

    + Provide guidance on the resolution of visa related issues that impact HR Records and Payroll, looping in management when necessary. Verify foreign national visitors' eligibility to receive expense reimbursements. Apply knowledge of USCIS, DOL, DOS, and DOE. Keep up with applicable regulations and eligibility requirements.

    + Responsible for the development, maintenance, and completion of periodic summary reports for non-immigrant visa holders' data to track and prioritize visa actions and insurance requirement for client groups.

    + May be asked to participate in I-9 re-verification project and support future in person I-9 employment verification documentation and processes.

    + May attend professional meetings.

    To be successful in this position you will bring:

    + Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

    + **Special note** : Because of the nature of this position, U.S. citizenship is required for any applicant for this position.

    + Demonstrated strong administrative, planning, and organization skills and ability to successfully navigate changing priorities.

    + Must be detail oriented and possess excellent written and verbal communication and negotiating skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management and a variety of collaborators.

    + Proven creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment and decision-making.

    + Ability to work independently and contribute/work in a collaborative environment.

    + Relevant subject matter knowledge including

    + Experience or knowledge of I-9 and E-Verify requirements, visa paperwork and processing, and USCIS and DOL regulations.

    + Analyze and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures to determine appropriate solutions in partnership with immigration attorneys.

    + Must be able to rapidly acquire knowledge of complex policies and regulations, and apply them appropriately

    + Use computer systems/software with high level of proficiency (e.g. MS Office ¿ Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, HR information systems; immigration tracking systems, etc.)

    In addition, preferred requirements include:

    + At least 10 years immigration support experience, with at least have being inhouse at a company or university.

    The expected pay range for this position is $116,849 - $148,275. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
