We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This role sits in the Supply Chain Technology organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Merchandise and F&B Lines of Business from across the segment.
The Manager of Software Engineering will report to the Senior Technology Manager
About The Role & Team:
+ This role manages delivery, sustainment, and innovation on Supply Chain Tech & Digital products in the Merchandise & F&B business domains. The role manages a team of software engineers, on multiple concurrent projects, focusing on development of custom software interfaces, UI extensions, business partnerships, vendor relationships, and core Supply Chain ERP functionality. The role provides input to the technology roadmap in partnership with the product team and ensures design decisions align to the roadmap.
What You’ll Do:
+ Oversee finances and budgets in MyPPM, ensure accurate billing processes, and contribute to forecasting and accrual processes to maintain financial integrity and support organizational objectives
+ Lead and mentor an engineering team responsible for analyzing, designing, programming, debugging, and enhancing software solutions used in various computing environments
+ Be responsible for technical analysis, effort estimation, product, and system design, evaluating architectural fit and compliance, resource schedules, delivery milestones and overall product quality.
+ Supervise delivery optimization of large-scale or sophisticated software programs and systems, collaborating multi-functionally to align with business goals and timelines
+ Coordinate, evaluate, and lead external vendor relationships, acting as the key point of contact, and ensuring contractual obligations are met
+ Proactively find opportunities for technology optimization and efficiency improvements, driving innovation and scalability
+ Craft and build a roadmap for delivering a world class support model and ensure ongoing health and performance of technology solutions
+ Review, augment, and build critical metrics for responsible systems, using visualization tools
+ Engage in estimation and planning across the organization, voicing recommendations, feedback, and solutions from a technical perspective and aligning to the overall project goals to deliver on-time & in-scope
+ Proactively track and assess emerging technologies across the industry to inform strategic decision-making and recommendations
+ Support on-call response to critical operational issues; be able to work beyond normal hours and support implementation transition activities and hyper-care shifts as needed.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
+ Minimum 8 years of hands-on software development work experience, preferably full stack
+ Additional 5+ years managing engineering and technology delivery teams
+ Excellent communication and leadership abilities, to ensure effective growth and development of team
+ Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with highly scalable architectures, patterns, and technologies, specifically Java, APEX, PL/SQL, Oracle DB, REST, and NoSQL DBs
+ Experience with cloud-based architected systems and platforms (i.e. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
+ Experience leading and recruiting technical teams, including software engineers, system and platform engineers, software architects, and technical project managers
+ Experience managing a globally distributed delivery team utilizing Agile methodologies
+ Proven experience in monitoring, supporting, and improving application availability and reliability
+ A visionary who motivates teams to excel and fosters creativity, consistently driving excellence in all endeavors
+ Experience with Supply Chain ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle Retail, Crunchtime, Blue Yonder) applying expertise to drive the development and implementation of solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Knowledge of Supply Chain processes in Merchandise and/or F&B including procurement, inventory management, planning, forecasting, and order optimization
+ Experience partnering with integration teams using Google Cloud leveraging MongoDB
Required Education:
+ Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
