    In this role of **Sr.** **Manufacturing Project Engineer,** you will be a key driver of capital project initiatives, process improvements, defect reductions, capacity expansion and supplier change qualifications that support the overall production operation. You will work with cross functional teams to meet the needs of the business, facilitating equipment and process design activities, tracking project finances, and providing input to capital plant budget forecast. You will be responsible for driving the projects to meet schedules, providing accurate spend forecasts, and communicating status updates to the leadership team.

     

    Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

     

    + Generate capital request justification with financial economic analysis, equipment design and cost.

    + Analyze current equipment designs and drive improvements.

    + Devise qualification plans and schedules for product changes.

    + Report to leadership the project status of key deliverable milestones.

    + Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.

    + Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

    + Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

    + Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

    + May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

    + Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

    + Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.

    + Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

    + Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

     

    Must Have: Minimum Requirements

     

    + Bachelors degree required

    + Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience, or advanced degree with 2 years of relevant engineering experience

    Nice to Have

    + Electrical, Mechanical, or Electromechanical degree

    + Sterile packaging experience

    + Medical Device experience

    + Experience with equipment development and process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)

    + Small tooling design and development

    + Engineering experience with medical devices

    + Design of Experiments (DOE)

    + Electro-Mechanical troubleshooting skills

    + Verbal, written and presentation skills

    + Technical writing skills

    + Strong statistical skills using Minitab

    + Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing experience preferred

    + Team dynamic skills (communication, accountability, decision-making, feedback, meeting management, managing conflict).

    + Problem solving and root cause analysis for improvements or non-conformances

    + Experience in manufacturing project management

    + Experience in medical device manufacturing preferred

    + Understands technical documentation and procedures

    + Knowledge of drafting standards, fixtures, and tooling a plus

    + Proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel, Project, Visio, and Word

    + Project Management skills including Gantt charts, tracking financials of projects, updating key stakeholders, coordinating resources, and delivering results against project timelines and budgets

    + Experience working with suppliers including managing project deliverables

    + Knowledge of capital project budgets including forecasting and quoting a plus

    + Experience developing statements of work, project charters, and project plans

    + Knowledge of equipment, facility, and process validations

    + Working knowledge of and experience in Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies

    Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$100,000.00 - $150,000.00

     

    This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

     

    The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

     

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

     

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

     

    Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
