    Job Summary

    The Utah DCC is hiring a Senior Business Data Analyst for NEMSIS (National Emergency Medical Services Information System). This position plays a critical role in ensuring the effective utilization of data to drive informed decision-making and improve operational efficiency within the emergency medical services ( EMS ) industry. This senior staff position requires experience using a variety of techniques in data analysis, project management, problem-solving, and stakeholder relations.

     

    This position functions autonomously with minimal supervision. A Senior Business Data Analyst must have the ability to interact with high-level stakeholders independently to scope and develop the advancement of the NEMSIS standard.

     

    This position helps to develop, implement, and maintain data solutions for EMS stakeholders. This position will work directly with division leadership, develop necessary documentation, and help define the scope and objectives for the team’s projects and work to meet the program requirements and grant deliverables.

     

    Familiarity with the NEMSIS standard as well as the lifecycle and processes surrounding the data flow from local entry to reception at the national data repository is essential. The ability to be comfortable with all EMS Stakeholders from newly minted EMT Basics to State Medical Directors is required. The ability to lead and drive discussions with the various EMS Stakeholder Subject Matter Expert groups. This position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or program director.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions

    + Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization based on data analysis and insights, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and drive operational efficiency.

    + Training and Support: Provide training and support to internal and external stakeholders on data analysis tools, techniques, and best practices to enhance data literacy and empower decision-making across the EMS industry.

    + Facilitates and/or assists with meetings, trainings, or conferences and provides summary reports. Represent the NEMSIS Technical Assistance Center and the NEMSIS Standard responsibly and appropriately with EMS Stakeholders.

    + Provide expertise in data analysis, reporting, and usage for evidence-based decision-making and improvements.

    + Guide and assist EMS data stakeholders, researchers, project managers and other EMS stakeholders with utilization of EMS data.

    + Assess and analyze performance metrics for quality assurance and continuous improvement of program offerings.

    + Lead projects through to completion and manage multiple tasks/projects.

    + Lead a solution-oriented culture within the BDA team.

    + Develop documentation, define scope and objectives to meet program requirements on time.

    + Fosters a collaborative leadership style with strategic and creative approaches to issues.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of experience in the field or in a related area required.

    Preference will be given to candidates with EMS field experience, EMS data knowledge, knowledge of the NEMSIS data standard, and a proven history of EMS research techniques and strategies.

     

    Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing skills. Strong analytic and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of applicable methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures. Demonstrated decision-making and leadership abilities. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail. Ability to partner with teams across multiple disciplines. Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, train, mentor and develop junior team members.
