    Summary

    The principal analyst’s role is to architect, design, implement, and maintain performance monitoring solutions across technology domains both on premise and in the cloud. The principal analyst provides leadership and vision in architecture, strategy, and service offerings as it relates to performance management that includes: Application Performance Management, Customer End-user Experience, and Service Health performance monitoring. The principal will also assess the impact of future business needs on existing and future services and architectures.

     

    This individual will possess the necessary skills to analyze and resolve complex network issues as well as guide the design/implement solutions which provide key visibility into the health and performance of the IT systems that help our company operate efficiently.

     

    The position requires a deep technical understanding of the infrastructure stack as well as application performance. This role also requires the ability to approach complex network and performance issues and lead troubleshooting efforts across diverse teams.

    What You'll Do

    + Ability to provide on-call support 24x7x365 to aide in troubleshooting SRP critical issues or systems under your administration

    + Experienced in problem analysis, and troubleshooting root cause across all 7 OSI layers

    + Ability to triage and articulate issues regarding application, network, end user, storage, database, and environmental components.

    + Experience implementing and using network and/or system monitoring and performance tools

    + Understands how and why data traverses the various components required between applications and end users

    + Understands the multiple areas of networking technology including routers, switches, network security and wireless network technologies

    + Ability to present technical topics to non-technical audiences and build partnerships

    + Ability to deal with ambiguity and can effectively deal with change, risk, and uncertainty

    + Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization

    + Skilled at conducting research, analysis, and reporting

    + Superior interpersonal and communication skills

    + Demonstrated ability to take initiative and accountability for achieving results

    + Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into tangible form

    + Must have the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a time-critical environment and to work simultaneously on a variety of tasks with varying degrees of complexity

    + Provide ongoing evaluation of technology solutions and capabilities to ensure alignment with business objectives and identify areas of risk and opportunity

    + Performs as a project leader on important projects which are large, or which have many complex features

    + Prepares specifications, evaluates bids, and prepares recommendation material for management consideration for important large or complex contracts, projects, or procurements

    + Performs as a staff consultant and/or advisor in a technical specialty

    + Prepares and/or conducts written and oral reports and presentations

    + Participate in the development and utilization of industry best practice processes and procedures responsible for design, construction, and maintenance of SRP's corporate monitoring systems to support current and future business needs

    + Identify emerging monitoring technologies and technical trends and develop recommendations for future use at SRP

    + Deep understanding of network protocols and their behavior, with extensive experience in packet analysis using Wireshark and other tools

    Additional Experience (Not required, nice to have):

    Other monitoring tools such as ExtraHop, Solar Winds, or ManageEngine

    Experience

    Minimum of 10 years cumulative and progressive post-degree experience

     

    Minimum 3+ years Network Experience

     

    2+ years of experience with Wireshark nice to have

    Education

    A bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution is required, plus an additional 18 graduate-level credits in the area of specialty preferred.

     

    Hybrid Workplace

     

    SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
