    Area General Manager, Cardiorenal (Houston, TX)

     

    As an Area General Manager (AGM) in the Cardiorenal division, you are responsible for delivering top-line targets by effectively leading and managing a dynamic cross-functional customer-facing team within your business unit. You will manage a cost base consisting of personnel and flexible spend, making necessary trade-offs to maximize impact. With a deep understanding of the specific needs of healthcare practitioners and healthcare systems in your therapeutic area, you will drive customer and patient-centric outcomes while ensuring performance goals are met. Extensive collaboration with HQ and other stakeholders is required to drive performance outcomes.

     

    The AGM will cover the Houston, TX area, which includes the following metropolitan areas: Huntsville, The Woodlands, Houston, Texas City, Galveston, Lake Jackson, Rosenberg, Sugar Land, Bay City, and Victoria. Travel up to 50%. Candidate must be domiciled within (or within reasonable commute to) the area.

    YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Accountable for achieving revenue goals for the area; execute comprehensive strategies and initiatives to drive revenue growth and market share in the region; work within the financial framework provided by the organization;

    + Develop and lead a high-performing team in the business unit, including sales representatives, key account managers, and other specialized roles; regularly assess and determine the size and composition of the team based on market needs;

    + Embody the key elements of being an outstanding leader—visionary, architect, coach, and catalyst; develop a One Team approach with a mindset of shared accountability within the team; coach and develop team members to help them realize their full potential;

    + Gain and apply a deep understanding of relevant markets, business models, strategic priorities, future direction, and financial drivers; engage in key local and national healthcare issues/strategies, customer issues/trends, pathway and quality trends, and best practices;

    + Define the regional strategy and priorities in collaboration with cross-functional and HQ teams; manage a portfolio of brands and dynamically allocate resources to maximize impact; set, execute, and measure market-based objectives for the business unit;

    + Develop long-term relationships with influential customers to address current and future business opportunities and advance brand adoption; understand customer business needs and effectively and compliantly communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations;

    + Maintain timely communications with all direct reports, matrix partners, management, and internal and external stakeholders.

    WHO YOU ARE:

    Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree with experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector with roles of increasing responsibility in sales, account management, market access, brand management, commercial operations, medical, etc.;

    + Current/prior experience leading specialized support teams (e.g. FRM, DGOS, QVPH, Clinical Educators, etc.) and/or leadership positions managing multiple levels within the organization. Must have demonstrated strong ability to lead without authority in a matrixed organization;

    + Customer-facing experience in roles promoting Cardiovascular, Renal, Pulmonary, and/or other therapies that align with Bayer Pharmaceutical specialty and primary care portfolio of products;

    + Current and unrestricted Driver's License;

    + Demonstrated strength in coaching mentoring teams/peers; helping others to meet or exceed their goals, targets, and other responsibilities;

    + High level of business and financial acumen, with success in formulating and implementing business plans in a matrixed environment;

    + Thorough understanding of health systems, customer segments, and regional market dynamics;

    + Demonstrated strength in coaching and mentoring teams/peers, helping others meet or exceed their goals, targets, and other responsibilities.

    + Willingness and ability to travel on a weekly basis;

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotect sector with roles of increasing responsibility in sales, account management, market access, brand management, commercial operations, medical, etc.

    + People leadership and/or cross-functional experiences strongly preferred;

    + Experience in managing budgets, negotiating for resources, and maximizing the return on investment preferred;

    + Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams strongly preferred;

     

    Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $172,777 to $259,166. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
