    Onsite are roles that have specific onsite requirements and are typically onsite daily.

     

    Hybrid fixed are roles that are a blend of onsite work/in-person interactions with some ability to work remotely and require employees to live within a commutable distance and be onsite fixed days each week.

     

    Hybrid flexible are roles that can be performed remotely but require some level of onsite work/in-person interactions on a regular basis, require employees to live within a commutable distance and, since business needs vary by position and may change over time, managers will set expectations and flexibility regarding where and when work is performed.

     

    Fully remote are roles that can be performed remotely, require employees to live in approved states and will have purpose-driven in-person interactions on occasion.

    Job Summary

    Responsible for providing effective leadership and Supervision of PSEG's Nuclear Fire Department including management of Fire Department personnel and resources to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and industry standards and overall oversight of the Fire Protection program.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Implements the overall operational fire protection program in accordance with FP-AA-001, Precautions Against Fire. Oversight of Fire Department budget, overtime, staffing levels, Emergency response equipment, EMS license, Emergency vehicles, and drives FP equipment reliability within the stations.

    • Provides command level oversight and ownership of emergency operations within the Fire Department. Direct oversight of 5 Shift Supervisors and 25 Fire Protection Operators.

    • Functions as the Fire Chief, or if not qualified designates an appropriate qualified individual to perform the function of Fire Chief. Incident Commander of Emergency Responses and liaison to outside emergency response organizations.

    • Coordinates the investigation and reporting of all fire incidents. Provides manager level interface with PSEG groups as applicable and is the hiring manager for all positions within the Fire Department to include union and mast positions.

    • Provides interface with NEIL, NRC, NOS, and the State of New Jersey Fire Marshal during property insurance, fire protection inspection and life safety inspections, supports fire protection training and fire drills.

    • Provides oversight and ownership of the Fire Protection Program and the work week schedule in the absence of the Fire Protection Program Superintendent.

    • Ensures the effective performance of all fire watches and adherence to all required fire protection compensatory measures and ensures all surveillance work is completed and follows the online schedule at both stations. SME for procedure reviews and implementation of FP procedures.

    Job Specific Qualifications

    + Minimum of 10 years of experience in nuclear Fire Protection with 5 years as a supervisor.

    + Required: NJ Firefighter I, Hazmat Operations, First Responder

    Other Basic Qualifications

    + Demonstrated project management skills

    + Demonstrated computer software skills. Ability to analyze and interpret information

    + Ability to develop and modify Fire Protection programs

    + Excellent written and oral communications

    + Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

    + NJ Fire Inspector or Fire Fighter I Certification, Emergency Medical Technician Certification, HazMat Techinician Certification

    Desired:

    + Fire Science degree or applicable associates degree in Fire Protection, Previous nuclear firefighting background, Fire Instructor

For employees in federally regulated roles (including positions covered by USDOT, PHMSA, or NRC regulations), this also includes random testing. Employees who are hired or transfer into a federally regulated role are subject to drug and alcohol testing, inclusive of marijuana.
