    Duration: Calendar Year (this position works year-round)

    Brief Description of Duties:

    SUNY Morrisville invites applicants for the position of Benefits Administrator within the Office of Human Resources. The Benefits Administrator will provide guidance to all employees, prospective employees and retirees on a range of benefits that employees receive such as health insurance, workers compensation, retirement options, reasonable accommodations, family medical and leave act and other employee benefit programs. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Human Resources.

    Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Serves as a benefits administrator including coordination and delivery of benefits information to New York State and Research Foundation employees; conducts benefit seminars and completing benefits enrollments.

     

    + Administer health, dental and vision insurance options for several different plans under different bargaining units and manage changes in individuals' plans; administer and assist employees with management of retirement, supplemental retirement, life insurance, long term disability insurance; manage and workers compensation claims; act as ADA Coordinator for the College, assisting employees with reasonable accommodation requests

    + Manage leaves under the Family Medical Leave Act and various leave benefits

    + Provide employees with their options and rights under available programs, and train supervisory employees on their responsibility to comply with these programs

    + Administer and manage internal optional employee benefits, such as: tuition reimbursement, flexible spending program, professional development funds, leave donation program and others

    + Coordinate the adjunct hiring process

    + Oversee performance programs and evaluations for employee, communications to supervisors and manage appointment renewals

    The successful candidate will need to have:

    + excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills

    + strong decision-making skills

    + ability to provide high quality and compassionate customer service

    + work at a high level of attention to detail and accuracy

    + maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to personal information

    + ability to be creative, flexible, and self-motivated

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree

    + Prior experience in Human Resources or related field

     

    Preferred Qualificiations

     

    + Two years of experience in Human Resources, Higher Education or related field.

    + Experience in benefits or leave administration.

    + Experience working with an automated Human Resources Information System (HRIS) system

    + Experience in NYS employment or SUNY
