Job Summary:

Fairleigh Dickinson University ( FDU ) invites applications for the position of Associate/Full Professor, and Executive Director, Health Innovation & Strategy. The successful candidate will be appointed as a faculty member within the School of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.

The leadership aspect of the role will drive strategic innovation in health programs, foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, and shape student-centered initiatives that promote educational excellence and community entrepreneurship. This key member of the Leadership Team in the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will work collaboratively with Deans, program directors, faculty, and staff to advance the University’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.

The Executive Director will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy for health-related innovation in research, teaching, and program development across the University’s health disciplines. This includes identifying and securing support for large-scale, interdisciplinary research initiatives and promoting collaborative funding proposals. A vital part of the role is translating innovative ideas into practical applications through partnerships with industry, startups, and government agencies. As a strategic advisor to senior academic leadership, the Executive Director will provide insight on technology integration, curriculum innovation, research priorities, and external partnerships. The role is instrumental in coordinating cross-institutional efforts to position FDU as a regional and national leader in healthcare innovation. For the executive director role, the position serves as a direct report to the Executive Associate Dean and the Dean.

The Associate/Full Professor, and Executive Director, Health Innovation & Strategy will teach as per faculty appointment.

Required Qualifications:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES :

1. Serves on the leadership team for the School, offering strategic leadership in planning, implementing, and managing innovation initiatives.

2. Collaborates with the Associate Dean for Assessment and Strategic Planning and the Chief Innovation Officer to coordinate strategic and programmatic assessment efforts related to innovation and supporting data-driven decision-making.

3. Maintains regular communication with FDU Health programs on matters concerning educational innovation and cross-program collaboration.

4. Supports the Executive Associate Dean and Chief Innovation Officer in executing the School’s strategic plan and continuous quality improvement initiatives related to healthcare innovation.

5. Leads the creation of strategic plans for health innovation, education, and research, aligning with institutional priorities.

6. Identifies and promotes funding opportunities for healthcare innovation projects, encouraging submissions across FDU Health programs.

7. Cultivates strategic partnerships with industry, startups, and innovation leaders to advance the School’s innovation agenda.

8. Coordinates and promotes health innovation and entrepreneurship efforts, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external affiliates.

9. Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty, staff, students, and trainees engaged in healthcare research and innovation, and builds connections with professional organizations in the field.

10. Builds and maintains strong relationships with community partners, corporations, healthcare systems, and professional associations at the local and national levels.

11. Maintains current knowledge of trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in healthcare innovation relevant to the School’s programs.

12. Assists the Dean in effectively communicating the School’s accomplishments, initiatives, and strategic plans to both internal and external stakeholders.

13. Integrates new and emerging technologies into academic and administrative functions to enhance program effectiveness.

14. Performs additional leadership duties as assigned by the Executive Associate Dean, Dean, or other University officers.

15. Teaches as per faculty appointment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Terminal degree (PharmD, PhD, EdD) required.

2. Documented experience in securing extramural funding for research or innovation initiatives (federal or state level). Demonstrated evidence of research or innovation supported by federal grant funding in strongly preferred.

3. Extensive full-time higher education experience of 10+ years. Eligibility for appointment at the associate professor or professor rank based on documented accomplishments. Specialization/ability to teach in one of the professional disciplines within the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is required.

4. Experience in accreditation, assessment and compliance procedures.

5. Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.

6. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
