**Corteva Agriscience** has an exciting opportunity for a **Research Associate.** Under minimal guidance, you will conduct experiments, complex technical operations, or information search/analysis projects and optimize and interpret methodologies and analysis and suggest experiments or alternative approaches. Recognize erroneous or unexpected results, interpret, and analyze results and make suggestions based on your analysis and conclusions. Interpret and analyze results, make suggestions on path forward and contribute to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow. Independently adapt new methodology to current projects.
What You’ll Do:
+ Work a rotational schedule that covers greenhouse care on the weekends. The rotational (once every 6-9 weekends) schedule will allow for greenhouse duties to be performed 365 days a year.
+ Be part of a dedicated crew that pollinates maize in controlled environments.
+ Conduct experiments to completion, according to specific procedures, exercising independent judgment and discretion as appropriate.
+ Summarize results of experiments, noting problem areas, while recommending actions to be taken within standard procedures.
+ Daily greenhouse plant care, including pollinating, transplanting, watering, harvesting and seed handling for corn, soybean, and other crops (some activities take place in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year-round).
+ Interact with clients from many different groups within and outside Corteva to collaborate on Controlled Environment work.
+ Data collection, analysis, and reporting of key metrics of the Controlled Environment process is a major portion of the role.
+ Collect phenotypic data on maize inbred lines.
What Skills You Need:
+ Four-year degree in relevant field of agriculture or horticulture preferred.
+ 1-2 years of related experience required. Preferred areas of experience include greenhouse plant care, agronomy, field pollinations, horticulture, or biology research. Interest in agronomic research desired.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as math and computer skills.
+ Ability to pay close attention to detail and follow standard operating and safety/ergonomics protocols is essential.
+ May be required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.
