    Description:

    Safety Technician - St. Peter's Hospital - FT Days

     

    We are seeking a hands on Safety Technician . The selected candidate will be responsible for the promotion of exceptionally safe teamwork. He/she will assist in the resolution of safety issues and the performance of field safety assessments. The candidate will also promote enhanced performance and provide safety training by offering coaching, mentoring and training to the on-site teams. He/she will interact with field operations by providing support for department initiatives and other various programs.

    What you will do:

    + Participate in construction meetings to ensure safety requirements are achieved.

    + Support the grant application process

    + Play an active role in the Emergency Management structure

    + Perform routine formal safety training sessions, and hold informal safety related talks with colleagues.

    + Perform regular jobsite inspections in order to identify any unsafe work practices and unsafe conditions, documenting the visits on observation forms and forwarding findings to various administrative and management personnel.

    + Responsible for the coordination of supplemental inspections when new equipment, substances or processes are introduced as well as when new or formerly undistinguishable hazards are discovered

    + Help with the completion of project safety planning and hazard investigations

    + Verify that corrective processes are finished in a suitable amount of time for all identified hazards. In addition, verify the completion of safety recommendations made by the insurance carrier, safety committee or any other safety consultants.

    + Submit status reports each week that specifies projects that were completed during that particular week.

    + Other duties as assigned

    Desired Skills & Experience:

    + Certified as an EMT or in First Aid, CPR, AED, etc.

    + Technologically competent

    What you will need:

    + High School Diploma or GED

    + Minimum of 5 years’ experience providing detailed safety instructions / presentations and training

    + Proven track record with progressive levels of responsibility

    **Pay Range:** $19.20 - $27.85

     

    Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
