Central District Health (CDH) (https://cdh.idaho.gov/) is currently recruiting for a motivated individual to join our dedicated group of professionals as our Breastfeeding Coordinator with ourWomen, Infants, and Children (WIC) (https://cdh.idaho.gov/health/wic/) team. This position is scheduled for 24 hours per week and is based from our Boise office.

Typical Duties:
+ Ensures standards for compliance with federal, state and district requirements are met by creation and implementation of a breastfeeding promotion and support plan for the local agency.
+ Reviews breastfeeding data with CDH WIC Program Manager on a regular basis to determine effectiveness of the plan.
+ Maintain current, accurate breastfeeding information resources such as posters, handouts, breastfeeding equipment, resources and referral information, etc., to optimally support breastfeeding in all CDH WIC locations.
+ Works under the direction of CDH WIC Program Manager to conduct needs assessments at the individual, organizational, and community levels as part of programmatic and strategic planning.
+ Works under the direction of WIC Program Manager to conduct surveys and/evaluate the effectiveness of breastfeeding programming and to make necessary changes as needed.
+ Provide input into the development of program budgets and assist with the review of monthly program expense reports.
+ Collaborate and interact with local breastfeeding coalition/community partners.
+ Participate in and conduct or coordinate ongoing training for WIC staff on breastfeeding promotion and support issues and information as required by subgrant funders.
+ Supervises, trains, mentors, and manages task assignments for Breastfeeding Peer Counselors.
+ Works with WIC staff to provide a baby friendly/breastfeeding friendly clinic environment for all WIC participants.
+ Provides expertise in more complex breastfeeding issues.
+ Prepare and deliver presentations on breastfeeding promotion and support to CDH staff and WIC participants promoting breastfeeding as the normal first choice of infant feeding.
+ Coordinates breastfeeding promotional activities to community partners and WIC participants including social media releases and World Breastfeeding activities.
+ Develops individual care plans for high-risk participants with breastfeeding challenges.
+ May be assigned to assist during public health emergencies and will be required to participate in preparedness exercises and training.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of:
+ Public health education principles and practices to include needs assessment, information dissemination and community organization relating to common health problems.
+ Basic disease etiologies and preventive strategies.
+ Survey methods and basic statistics used to collect and interpret data.
+ Training methods.
Experience:
+ Developing or reviewing and evaluating health-related informational material
+ Must have current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification.
Preferred Qualifications (this are not required, however, having this qualifications may increase your overall ranking):
+ Have the ability to speak both English and Spanish.
