Description
Amazon MGM Studios is looking for an experienced professional to help manage participations reporting for one of Hollywood’s more storied motion picture libraries. Bring to bear sharp analytical skills and deep industry knowledge to help the team meet its reporting obligations in the most timely and accurate manner possible.
Key job responsibilities
Reviewing participation and box office bonus statements for third party participants, as well as production cost and co-distributor true up statements
o Creating and reviewing receipts and/or expense adjustments, interest schedules and other manual calculations required for accurate reporting
o Reviewing staff reconciliations and diligence work
o Validating the accuracy of statement mailing packages, tax withholding calculations and payment requisitions
o Validating the accuracy of reporting set ups against contract terms
o Reviewing analyst work as part of month-end diligence
o Providing analytical and other support for titles subject to audit
o Preparing and maintaining motion picture and television ultimates
o Handling forecasting tasks
o Managing treasury reconciliations
o Participate in staff mentoring, development and review
o Participate in system and template development/testing
A day in the life
There is no “typical” day on the participations team. One day you’ll be focused on finishing up franchise reporting that pays millions in share. The next, you may be updating a decades-old manual statement that’s millions of dollars in deficit. Other days you may be handling participant inquiries sent to our department hotline, or researching material licensing deals as part of our month-end financial close.
About the team
Our goal is to accurately and timely report on thousands of outbound statements each year. This requires teamwork, collaboration and a passion for accuracy. Our team works closely together to spread the work and encourage learning and development.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
- 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- Prior experience in participations accounting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Excel (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, lookups)
- Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel
- Strong analytical, communications, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Initiative, ability to multi-task, and commitment to follow through on projects.
- Excellent listening skills and attention to detail
- Experience with Salesforce
- Experience working with participations/royalty reporting systems (Alliant preferred)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
