We're looking for a Leader of Specialist Solutions Architects for US State, Local Government and Global Education (SLG/EDU) in Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) to design, evangelize, and architect state-of-the-art Infrastructure Migration and Modernization solutions for our customers. The Specialist team is responsible for working with customers to accelerate their adoption of AWS for complex solutions, services, and workloads in domains that include high performance storage, application and data modernization, and others. The successful candidate must have great people management, mentoring, and hiring skills. You will help develop the industry's best cloud-based solutions architects by enabling and coaching them on best practices, specialized solution selling, presentation and speaking skills, as well as how to create and present architectures of widely varying size and complexity for our specialized services. Working closely with our services teams, you will help enable new capabilities for our customers to develop and deploy workloads on AWS.

In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technologies in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new solutions. Furthermore, thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology and considering the value technology creates for our customers and helping to change how technology is viewed are important aspects of the role. You will need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other teams within AWS, including services teams, field solutions architecture, sales, marketing, business development, and professional services. You will appropriately recognize, reward and represent your team to executive management. You should be passionate about helping public sector customers understand best practices for operating on AWS.

- Have a strong understanding of emerging technology solutions. The ideal candidate will have past experience working as a Solutions Architect or similar role and managing a team of Solutions Architects. You will keep your existing technical skills honed and develop new ones, so you can make strong contributions to deep architecture discussions.

- Understand the intersection of business and technology executives in selling and positioning infrastructure migration and modernization in the enterprise

Key job responsibilities

- In partnership with the specialist sales teams, formulate and execute a sales strategy to exceed revenue objectives

- Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Specialist Solutions Architects

- Coach Specialist Solutions Architects in the skills needed to conduct one-to-few and one-to-many engagements so they can share deep technical skills to customers who are considering or using AWS

- Step into a Specialist Solutions Architect role when required to support customers

- Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community

- Guide and motivate the development of whitepapers, data sheets, blog posts, and other high-value customer-facing collateral

Basic Qualifications

- Experience leading and growing teams of senior technology professionals, ideally in customer facing roles

- 6+ years of enterprise IT application work that includes at least 2 years of hands-on software development or DevOps engineering experience

- 6+ years of technology solutions development and evangelising end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing experience

- 2+ years of architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc. experience

- Domain expertise in Database and Storage

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience selling and delivering complex technical solutions to public sector organizations

- Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, developers, and at large events

- Earned certification in AWS Solution Architect Professional, AWS SysOps Administrator Associate or similar

- Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks in public sector

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC)

- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly

- Proven ability to deliver results in a matrix organization (leveraging multiple functions and teams)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $152,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $262,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
