    General Requirements:

    This position will require a significant amount of travel between internship site locations for field observations.

    Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

    The Assistant Professor of Practice is a non-tenure track faculty position that will perform field observations, mentor, coach, and train teacher candidates in the Sam Houston State University ( SHSU ) Alternative Certification Program. This position will also guide students through the required internships so that they are eligible to be recommended for standard Texas teaching credentials at the conclusion of their internship.

    Other Specifications/Instructions for the Position:

    This is a grant funded position, continuation of the position is contingent upon continued funding.

    Educational Requirements for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):

    Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction or related field. Preference given to applicants with expertise in teacher education and supervision.

    Experience Required for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):

    At least 3-5 years successful teaching in K-12 setting. Experience working with various learners in a school environment and in differentiating instruction.
