    The Amazon MGM Studios Development Finance team is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Financial Analyst to support Scripted TV projects in Development. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing & ambitious team with strong processes, efficient workflows, and growth opportunities.

     

    This role will be primarily focused on Finance operations and facilitating the payment process for writers, directors, producers, and rights holders as Scripted TV projects move through the development phase. This will include Finance/AP centered processes such as payee (talent) onboarding, reviewing deal terms, and confirming finance requirements to manage payment schedule approvals and facilitate payments. This role will coordinate daily with external partners such as the talent and/or their representative, as well as with internal partners such as Business Affairs, Creative, & Legal to facilitate timely payments.

     

    The ideal candidate will be able to operate independently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with effective verbal/written communication and logical reasoning. Strong communication skills are required as the individual will interact with a significant volume of high-profile talent/representatives and key business partners on a daily basis. The individual must be able to prioritize, think clearly, and problem-solve in order to balance numerous projects and requests simultaneously as they independently move through various stages of development.

     

    As Development Finance is vital to the broader success and reputation of Amazon Studios, where there are hundreds of projects in development at any point in time, the ideal candidate must collaborate with business partners efficiently and show a strong initiative for team work and supporting business needs.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Manage Scripted TV projects by collaborating with Contract Admins, Legal Assistants, and Creative Coordinators to execute payments throughout the development lifecycle

    • Review development deals, agreements, payee information, and finance requirements to prepare talent payment schedules

    • Monitor newly closed deals to initiate talent/payee onboarding process via Amazon’s AP platform

    • Communicate daily with external partners such as talent and/or their representatives to onboard payment information, provide status updates, and route inquiries to facilitate payments in a timely manner

    • Develop and document key process workflows with a focus on improving team efficiency

    • Collaborate with designated AP Support teams to troubleshoot miscellaneous payment issues and establish new AP controls to scale with the business

    • Produce regular development cost reports for Studios Accounting month-end reporting and for Studios Legal and Production Finance as projects exit development

    • Support team goals and leadership objectives to grow the business through broader process improvement and automation initiatives

    Basic Qualifications

    - 3+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

     

    - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Entertainment industry experience with Production, Development, or talent agencies is strongly preferred

    - Experience with Finance operations or Accounts Payable (AP) processes (i.e. payee management and payment execution)

     

    - Understanding of industry-specific legal agreements/deal terminology

     

    - Ability to work independently in a fast-paced high-volume environment

     

    - Highly motivated, proactive and self-sufficient

     

    - Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive tasks to completion

     

    - Experience in identifying and executing opportunities to automate and improve finance tools and processes

    - Proficiency in financial systems such as Oracle and Excel

    - Experience with data visualization platforms (i.e Tableau, Quicksight, etc.)

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
