    About the Role:

    As the Regional Laboratory Lead Technician, you will play a crucial role in performing various tests on materials used in the construction of North Carolina’s roads and bridges. You will become proficient in testing soils, coarse and fine aggregates, aggregate base course, concrete, and other materials to ensure they meet NCDOT specifications. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, operating equipment, and working in a team environment to assess material quality and support construction operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Oversee and mentor lower-level lab technicians.

    + Operating various pieces of laboratory equipment.

    + Input test data into HiCAMS and maintain an in-house Microsoft Excel database.

    + Assist in arranging daily work schedules for lab technicians at various testing stations.

    + Maintain the laboratory equipment inventory list and ensure all equipment is in good working condition.

    + Coordinate routine maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment.

    + Perform the required routine calibration of testing equipment.

    Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
