SalaryGrade: NC04 / Salary Range: $31,200.00-$54,397 - All recommended salaries are based on each applicant's qualifying education and related experience in combination with the position's budgeted salary. The maximum hiring rate for this position is $44,563.

Position is located in Wilson County Equipment
+ In this position you will perform a variety of physical labor tasks requiring some knowledge and experience in their particular work assignments.
+ Your work will be performed with only general supervision in repetitive and routine assignments and may be closely supervised when assisting higher level tradesman in performing more complex work.
+ Examples of duties: helping load and unload tires, assist mechanics as needed, keeping offices, shop and shop yard clean, cleaning and polishing office floors, mowing grass, pick up and deliver parts, pick up and deliver mail, assist in the delivery of parts and mail within the Division.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
+ Experience operating power tools such as chainsaw, weed eater, skill saw, drill, compactor, jackhammer, etc. and/or using small hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, post hole diggers, hammer, screwdriver, torch, etc.
+ Experience performing manual labor
Additional Expectations:
The selected candidate must be able to legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date. Either possession of a current Commercial Driver’s License on the date of hire, OR the North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License must be obtained through completion of on-the-job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire.
Pre-employment drug testing is required for this position. As a condition of employment, a release form (ALCDRG-01) and a background statement (ALCDRG-06) must be signed allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past three years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
Safety toe footwear is needed.
Skill in the use and care of equipment and tools used in performing work assignments and the ability to follow oral work assignments.
Physical strength sufficient to move relatively heavy objects and to work at heavy manual tasks for considerable periods of time. Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environment and to drive long distances daily.
Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school education General Educational Development Diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
