    We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Finance to join our leadership team at a forward-thinking utility company dedicated to delivering affordable, reliable and sustainable energy solutions.     JOB SUMMARY

    Responsible for overall management of corporate budgeting, financial modeling and forecasting, rate design and implementation and analytics. In addition, this position is the chief financial officer for an inter-local corporation, District Energy Corporation (DEC), which provides thermal energy services to significant governmental (City of Lincoln, Lancaster County and State of Nebraska) entities. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND CORE COMPETENCIES

    + Provides strategic leadership to department management and oversees the effective supervision of staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, monitoring employee performance, ensuring staff members are trained and cross trained, resolving conflicts, and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.

    + Provides strategic oversight for multiple complex, cross-functional projects for area of assignment.

    + As CFO for the inter-local corporation, provides independent oversight for all financial policies, metrics, and overall financial position including fixed and variable rate financing, tax-exempt financing continuing disclosures, and managing bond rating agency relationships.

    + Oversees reporting used by the Executive team and Board members to make financial decisions for areas of responsibility and ensures the integrity of financial and data analytics used by organization .

    + Leads determination of financial mechanisms and tools used to ensure continuity of operations including fixed and variable rate financing, tax-exempt financing continuing disclosures, and supports bond rating agency relationships.

    + Oversees research, including cost of service studies, etc., and review of new rate structures, philosophies, and design, provides recommendations and implements once approved.

    + Develops and implements short- and long-term goals for area of assignment and assists with establishing strategic goals, long-term objectives and short-term priorities for the division.

    Project Management - Establishes project goals, milestones, and procedures, defines roles and responsibilities, acquires project resources, coordinates projects throughout company, monitors project progress, and manages multiple projects.

     

    Strategic Thinking - Aligns day to day activities around broader organizational goals and objectives; prioritizes resources based on the strategic objectives of the organization; recognizes and rewards people based on how their actions support the broader needs of the company.

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in related field;

    + Seven years of progressively responsible experience in area of assignment, including supervisory experience; or

    + An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
