    Description

    We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our client’s team in the healthcare industry, located in Glastonbury, Connecticut. This is a vital role responsible for overseeing accounting operations, managing financial integrity, and supporting strategic financial initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring extensive accounting expertise, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of general accounting principles and healthcare industry practices.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and classified in compliance with GAAP standards.

    + Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

    + Reconciliations: Perform complex account reconciliations, including bank accounts, revenue accounts, and intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy.

    + Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses that align with the company’s financial goals.

    + Audit Support: Serve as a point of contact during internal and external audits by compiling required documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.

    + Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management: Oversee compliance with healthcare industry accounting policies, including billing, collections, and patient reimbursement.

    + Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

    + Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings and reporting standards.

    + Team Leadership and Mentoring: Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff and serve as a resource for technical accounting questions.

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Skills Required:

    + Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

    + CPA designation (or active progress toward certification) preferred.

    + Experience:

    + 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the healthcare industry or a regulated environment.

    + Previous experience with healthcare revenue cycle, compliance reporting, and/or financial analysis is highly desirable.

    + Technical Proficiency:

    + Strong command of Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, advanced formulas).

    + Proficiency with ERP software; experience with healthcare-specific systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech is a plus.

    + Analytical Skills:

    + Exceptional ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and offer actionable recommendations to management.

    + Detail-Oriented:

    + Accuracy in managing complex reconciliations and financial records.

    + Communication Skills:

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present financial information clearly to stakeholders.

    + Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and compliance teams.
