Our client, a respected and community-centered educational institution in Cambridge, is seeking an Accountant to join their collaborative Finance team. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career accounting professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment and is looking for a well-rounded role with exposure to both payroll and general accounting.

You’ll report directly to the Controller and work closely with a small team including AP and billing specialists. The organization supports around 180 employees—including salaried staff, hourly seasonal staff, and faculty—so this role requires a detail-oriented and highly trustworthy individual who understands the importance of accuracy and confidentiality.

• Key Responsibilities Include:

+ Prepare monthly journal entries, reconcile cash and balance sheet accounts

+ Assist with annual audit preparation and supporting schedules

+ Maintain investment and endowment records

+ Run bi-weekly payroll for approximately 180 employees using ADP WorkforceNow

+ Reconcile and process gift revenue in collaboration with the Advancement Office

+ Enter fixed assets into the accounting system quarterly

+ Oversee petty cash and process miscellaneous receipts

+ Remit 403(b) contributions to TIAA-CREF bi-weekly

+ Manage seasonal billing for summer programs and camps

Requirements

• Ideal Candidate Will Have:

+ A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

+ 2–3+ years of experience in accounting roles with exposure to payroll

+ Solid understanding of bank reconciliations, journal entries, and GAAP

+ Prior experience with ADP WorkforceNow and/or Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT a plus but not required.

+ Advanced Excel skills; PowerPoint is a bonus

+ A high level of discretion, ethics, and professional integrity

• Compensation: $70,000–$85,000 + Outstanding Benefits

• Schedule: Full-time, Year-Round, Exempt (Salaried)
