Description

A leading San Diego-based industrial manufacturing company is seeking an exceptional Senior Accountant to support complex accounting functions. Our client operates in a global market and designs, produces, and distributes high-quality industrial products. This role will focus on cost accounting, inventory valuation, and financial reporting while working closely with the operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Accounting:

+ Maintain accurate standards for product costing through analyzing production data, material costs, labor hours, and overhead allocation.

+ Perform detailed inventory reconciliations, including raw materials, finished goods, and WIP (Work in Progress).

+ Prepare periodic inventory reports and analyze variance reports to identify discrepancies or inefficiencies.

Financial Reporting:

+ Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and company policies.

+ Provide profitability analyses for various product lines, customer segments, or regions.

+ Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper financial reporting for global manufacturing operations.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

+ Work with department heads and operations teams to create annual budgets and rolling forecasts.

+ Monitor capital expenditures related to manufacturing equipment and ensure compliance with approved budgets.

+ Assist in preparing cash flow projections for manufacturing activities, including materials procurement and shipping schedules.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

+ Develop and enforce internal controls to prevent errors and fraud related to inventory movements and expenses.

+ Prepare for and coordinate internal and external audits relating to manufacturing processes and financial accuracy.

+ Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance if required.

System Implementation and Improvement:

+ Work alongside IT to enhance or implement ERP modules for manufacturing processes (e.g., Oracle NetSuite, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics).

+ Troubleshoot existing systems and workflows to identify inefficiencies and suggest process improvements.

Requirements

+ 5+ years of accounting experience in the manufacturing industry, with a focus on cost accounting.

+ Strong experience with ERP systems for manufacturing (Oracle, SAP, or similar).

+ Advanced skills in Excel, including modeling, pivot tables, and automation functions.

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA, CMA, or MBA highly preferred.

+ Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, coupled with the ability to present complex information clearly.

+ Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
