Description We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team in Hampton, Virginia. This role focuses on estimating costs for commercial mechanical construction projects, requiring a detail-oriented individual with expertise in mechanical systems, strong communication skills, and proficiency in estimating software. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver accurate estimates and contribute to the overall success of projects.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs from mechanical and plumbing drawings to prepare precise estimates.
• Gather scopes of work and pricing information from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Participate in bid review meetings and assist in project turnover processes.
• Perform job site surveys and collaborate with contractors, facility managers, and owners to assess project requirements.
• Analyze historical data to support budget preparation and cost analysis.
• Develop comprehensive cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment related to commercial mechanical systems.
• Review project drawings and specifications to accurately determine the scope and requirements.
• Utilize estimating software tools to create competitive and accurate bids and proposals.
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals to ensure optimal value for the project.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities to improve project cost efficiency. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating commercial mechanical construction projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and processes within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools used for cost analysis.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Ability to read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and related documents.
• Skilled in conducting site surveys and coordinating with various stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to identify risks and opportunities in project costs.
• Familiarity with construction industry standards and practices.
