    Description

    We are looking for an experienced construction Controller to join our firm in Franklin, MA. In this role, you will oversee all accounting and finance functions as well as all business operations, with the ability to manage financial reporting, job cost accounting, project accounting, WIP reports, and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity to lead in a collaborative environment while mentoring less experienced staff and building strong client and co-worker relationships.

    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

    • Establish and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure accurate financial recordkeeping.

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, managing any industry-specific requirements.

    • Contract review and compliance, Billing and AIA Requisitions while managing change order tracking.

    • Work with project managers to develop accurate job cost reports.

    • Execute Work in Process reports for all projects.

    • Assist with job cost tracking and financial reporting for individual projects, collaborating with the Project Managers.

    • Supervise AP/AR staff, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments and collections.

    • Prepare and manage AIA contract billings and invoicing to ensure timely collections.

    • Optimize accounting systems and reporting tools to improve efficiency.

    • Recommend and implement best practices for financial management and internal controls.

    • Train and mentor accounting staff to ensure accuracy and consistency in financial reporting/processes.

    • Monitor project financial performance and identify risks to profitability, providing recommendations for corrective actions.

    • Process company payroll.

    • Remit 401k and garnishments.

    • Manage company benefits.

    • Act as liaison for Banking Institutions, CPA, Legal and Insurance Professionals.

    • In-depth understanding of GAAP and financial regulations.

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.

    Requirements

    Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, MBA or CPA a plus

    + 7+ years of experience in accounting/financial management, minimum of 3 years in a construction or specialty contractor environment (mandatory)

    + Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks is used) and Microsoft Excel. AIA experience and WIP reporting a plus. Sage experience a plus.

    + Strong knowledge of job costing, project accounting, and financial reporting for construction/specialty contractor companies.
