Colleen McAuliffe is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in San Jose, California. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to oversee accounting operations, ensure compliance with industry standards, and contribute to the financial integrity of our organization. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong background in construction accounting and a proactive approach to managing complex financial tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and analyze monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports to ensure accuracy.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, delivering timely and precise financial statements.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, with a focus on construction job cost accounting.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes, ensuring operational accuracy.
• Collaborate closely with project managers to track job costing, work-in-progress schedules, and conduct variance analyses.
• Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives, providing critical financial insights.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and internal controls to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Assist in preparing documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting functions.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to entry-level accounting staff to foster team development.
Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on construction projects.
• Expertise in account reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet analysis.
• Proficiency in managing general ledger operations and preparing journal entries.
• Advanced knowledge of month-end close processes and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with construction accounting practices and job cost tracking.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Active accounting certification is required.
