Description

The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Director of Accounting to support a wide range of general accounting activities. This role is heavily focused on month-end close procedures, general ledger reconciliations, and supporting internal and external audit processes. While primarily an accounting-focused role, the Senior Accountant will also handle periodic tax-related filings, such as sales and use tax, in coordination with an external tax advisor (no tax return preparation required). The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting background, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Familiarity with ERP systems (Epicor preferred), along with strong communication and collaboration skills, is essential for success in this team-oriented environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Perform month-end close procedures.

+ Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts, including cash receipts.

+ Record and reconcile journal entries for prepaid and accrued expenses.

+ Manage fixed assets, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and related journal entries.

+ Provide support and documentation for internal and external audits.

+ Process credit and debit memos; report bi-weekly to senior management.

+ Monitor and resolve negative accounts payable resulting from vendor debit memos.

+ Review and approve CashPro Positive Pay exceptions.

+ Support tax compliance activities, including preparation and reconciliation of monthly sales and use tax (via Avalara) and Canadian tax filings (GST/PST).

+ File required state and local business reports, tax filings, and compliance documentation.

+ Prepare and file Tier 2, Diversity, and Minority Reporting (monthly and quarterly).

+ Complete census surveys and manage business and contractor license renewals.

+ Assist with auto registration renewals and related administrative filings.

+ Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements • At least 5 years of accounting experience, including month-end and year-end close processes.

• Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing general ledger transactions and preparing journal entries.

• Experience with accounting software, preferably Epicor, NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.

• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing requirements.
