    Working in conjunction with faculty and academic deans, the Designer will provide pedagogical support and instructional design to support Delhi's online programs and college mission. This position will be primarily responsible for ensuring and supporting the quality of online and/or hybrid course design in Delhi's programs. This will include designing, developing, and delivering instructional materials that directly support faculty, staff, and students in their use of educational technology. Efforts will focus more on course review related tasks, but managing and serving as a campus administrator of the LMS will also be a foundational responsibility of this position. Though an instructional design position, preference will be given to candidates who possess a strong background in both instructional technology and design. The Instructional Designer reports to the Manager of Educational Technology and has no supervisory functions.

     

    Instructional Design Functions

    Working in conjunction with faculty and academic deans, the Instructional Designer will:

    + Implement various SUNY Delhi Online Education policies/practices.

    + Support the usage of the LMS for faculty/staff/students.

    + Provide consultation and project management for the integration of technology in the curriculum in web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online courses.

    + Support faculty and staff in the integration of emerging technologies to facilitate teaching practices and student learning experiences with selection and inclusion of accessibility technology during course development.

    + Support initiatives as they relate to instructional technology to enhance efficiencies, improve services and generate cost savings.

    + Track faculty and staff development activities as they relate to Online Education by conducting faculty and staff training on a variety of instructional/academic technologies.

    + Approves course design and tracks the online course development process, monitor on-going courses, and troubleshoots problems in technology and course delivery and approves course design.

    + Assist instructors with analyzing standards, goals of curriculum; and identifying and implementing high-level learning strategies to meet these goals.

    + Assist in the administration of the LMS and configuration of courses (course templates, migrating content and courses, archiving and back-up).

    + Work with the college's Campus Information System (CIS) staff to better serve students, staff, and faculty.

    + Respond to various Help Desk tickets/questions relating to course design.

    + Assist with learning management system testing.

    + Occasional travel required.

    Job Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, or related academic discipline.

    + A minimum of three years of experience in instructional design, instructional technology, distance learning, or directly related field.

    + Solid understanding of pedagogy and trends in college instruction and faculty development.

    + Experience with using and supporting learning management systems.

    + Experience with training, staff development, and/or teaching.

    + Demonstrated written, presentation, and interpersonal communications skills.

    + Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    + Excellent communication and teaching skills.

    Preferred:

    + Online teaching experience and/or experience as an online learner in higher education.

    + A Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology or related academic discipline.

    + Familiarity with Brightspace D2L.

    Additional Information:

    + Starting: August 2025

    + Work schedule: Monday - Friday

    + Salary: $57,151

    + Reports to: Manager of Educational Technology
