    Duties Description The Department of Psychology at SUNY Old Westbury is seeking a part-time psychology tutor who will assist psychology majors with inferential statistics, APA-style writing, and general content from the major areas within psychology. The tutor will be expected to work with students one-on-one and in groups, both in person and remotely through Zoom. We are especially interested in someone with strong skills in research methods and statistical analysis. A successful tutor will work with instructors so that they can provide much needed support to struggling students. This is a part-time, college year, as needed, hourly paid position.SUNY Old Westbury serves large populations of underrepresented, first-generation, and non-traditional students. Candidates with experience working with a similar student body, and a demonstrated commitment to supporting these populations, are strongly encouraged to apply.

     

    Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in psychology or a closely related field.Teaching or tutoring experience.Demonstrated excellent person-to-person communication skills; a positive attitude, patience, dependability, and a strong desire to help students gain confidence and increase their competence in research methods and psychology.Proficient in Excel and SPSS.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in psychology.Teaching or tutoring experience in research methods and/or psychology.Knowledge in other software statistical programs, such as R and SAS.
