Posting Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide general laboratory support and conduct scientific experiments within the scope of infectious disease models, cell culture, and molecular biology. The research activities involve working with Toxoplasma gondii, mammalian cell culture (including stem cells and neurons), and mouse models. Perform a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques, imaging, and in vivo experimental procedures. Adherence to established research goals, with regular meetings with the supervisor to discuss data, troubleshoot experiments, and plan daily research activities with increasing independence. General laboratory responsibilities include the preparation of solutions and reagents, supply ordering and inventory management, and routine equipment maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, chemistry, or a related field and minimum of 6 months of laboratory experience in a research or industrial setting.
Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, cell culture, and microscopy. Experience working with laboratory animals (mice required). Strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain detailed laboratory records and follow experimental protocols.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with stem cell culture and neuronal differentiation. Familiarity with animal model infections, especially with Toxoplasma gondii or other parasites.
Anticipated Pay Range $21.50/hour - $23.60/hour

position is only budgeted for one year.
Special Conditions Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Contingent on continued funding, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions, Background Check required for this position
